Noise Junior Explorer 2 Kids Smart Watch Review: The Ultimate 4G GPS Safety Tracker for Indian Parents?

Every Indian parent faces the modern dilemma: you want to stay connected with your child during school commutes, tuitions, and park playdates, but handing them an open-internet smartphone at age 5 to 12 exposes them to excessive screen addiction, inappropriate content, and social media rabbit holes.

The Noise Junior Explorer 2 (ASIN: B0GSRN8KLC) is engineered precisely to bridge this gap. Designed from the ground up as a child-safe wearable communicator, it packs independent 4G LTE cellular connectivity, live Google Maps satellite tracking, geofencing alerts, two-way video calling, and an emergency SOS button into a vibrant, rugged wrist watch.

Here is our exhaustive hands-on evaluation of the Noise Junior Explorer 2 across safety features, call quality, GPS accuracy, battery life, and overall parental controls.

1. Safety & Location Tracking: Real-Time Peace of Mind

The cornerstone of any child tracking device is reliable location positioning, and the Explorer 2 delivers significant upgrades over first-generation trackers:

• Triple-Tier Positioning (GPS + Wi-Fi + LBS): The watch uses built-in GPS for outdoor precision down to a few meters, combined with local Wi-Fi router triangulation and cellular tower mapping (LBS) for indoor environments like apartment basements or shopping malls.
• Google Maps Live Tracking: Parents can view their child’s real-time movement live inside the companion Noise Amigo parental app on Android or iOS.
• Geofencing & Safe Zones: You can configure virtual boundaries (e.g., a 200-meter radius around school, housing society, or coaching center). The moment your child enters or exits this designated perimeter, an instant push notification is delivered to your phone.
• Location History: Provides a chronological timeline playback of your child’s commute path throughout the day.

2. 4G Two-Way Voice & HD Video Calling

Unlike standard Bluetooth-tethered fitness bands that require a nearby phone, the Noise Junior Explorer 2 functions as an independent cellular phone on the wrist:

• Nano-SIM Support (Jio, Airtel, Vi): It accepts a standard 4G Nano-SIM card with VoLTE capability.
• Front HD Video Camera: A built-in front-facing 2 MP camera allows face-to-face video calling through the parent app. It gives parents instant visual confirmation of their child’s surroundings and well-being.
• Loud & Clear Earpiece: The integrated micro-speaker delivers loud, intelligible voice output even in bustling school bus environments or playground noise.

Strict Call Whitelisting Protection

One of the most vital child safety features is Anti-Stranger Contact Whitelisting. The watch will only receive calls or messages from pre-approved family contacts added by the administrator inside the parent app. Unknown telemarketers, spam callers, or strangers are blocked automatically without ringing the child’s watch.

3. Dedicated One-Touch SOS Emergency Button

In any uncomfortable or emergency situation, a child cannot fumble through smartphone menus. The Noise Junior Explorer 2 solves this with a physical, raised SOS button on the side:

1. When the child presses and holds the SOS button for 3 seconds, the watch vibrates and silently triggers an emergency cycle.
2. It sends an immediate loud siren alert and real-time GPS coordinates directly to the parent’s phone.
3. It automatically dials the primary emergency contact in a continuous loop until someone picks up.

4. School Mode & Habit Schedulers

A major hesitation for school-going kids is whether schools permit smart wearables. Noise has specifically addressed classroom compliance:

• Distraction-Free School Mode: Parents can schedule automated quiet hours matching school timings (e.g., 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM). During these hours, games, camera functions, and notifications are completely disabled, displaying only standard clock time. However, SOS emergency calling remains 100% active in the background.
• Routine & Habit Reminders: Built-in habit schedulers allow parents to push cheerful reminder alarms for morning wake-up, hydration, homework time, and bedtime routines.
• Friend Connect: Includes a supervised “Bump to Connect” feature enabling kids with the same watch to add approved playground friends.

5. Rugged Build, IP68 Water Resistance & Battery Life

Children play hard, and consumer electronics rarely survive drops, puddle splashes, and playground dust.

• IP68 Ingress Protection: The Explorer 2 is certified IP68 water- and dust-resistant. It easily handles heavy Indian monsoon rain, hand washing, and sweaty outdoor sports without internal circuit damage.
• Skin-Safe Silicone Strap: Hypoallergenic, breathable silicone strap with rounded edges prevents chafing on sensitive young skin during all-day wear.
• Battery Performance: Powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery. Under regular usage (occasional video call, intermittent GPS pings, and stand-by), expect 1.5 to 2 days of endurance. Heavy live GPS tracking and video calls will require daily overnight charging via the magnetic pogo-pin dock.
